Helen R.Mathie - Chartered & Veterinary Physiotherapist

MSc BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP ACPAT A

Helen graduated from Nottingham University in 1997 before working as a Trainee Business Analyst with Genus plc. She then went on to train as a physiotherapist graduating from St Georges Hospital Medical School, London in 2003. Since then she has worked in the NHS, private practice and as a rugby physiotherapist for both local Union and League men’s and ladies squads. This included Squad Physiotherapist for both Varsity Blues and London Welsh Veterans Dubai Rugby Sevens 2006. Helen is dually qualified treating both humans and animals having completed a MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2007.

Helen joined the team in June 2009 and is currently working three days a week at Linhay. She provides physiotherapy assessments and treatments for both outpatients and inpatients, including individual exercise/rehabilitation programs, soft tissue techniques and hydrotherapy support.

Helen also works freelance for the British Equestrian Federation as physiotherapist for both riders and horses on the Para Equestrian Development Squad. She also works with the Performance Squad riders and was Team GB Para-Equestrian Physiotherapist at the Beijing Paralympics 2008.

Helen is a keen rider herself somehow fitting in dressage and eventing on her own locally bred horses and enjoys walking her lurcher Sid.
